I'm gonna start off with the funny story. So a Sister called me and Sister Baxter this week. She has dementia and we have been visiting her once every 2 weeks just to keep her company. She called us to tell us she had given away a Book of Mormon and that they lady seems genuinely interested. The phone call started out as a two way conversation and then she started to talk super fast and never paused for a response. Then she nears the end and says, "Well if you have any questions give me a call its 607-555-5555 that was 607-555-5555, Thank you so much Sisters. I will look forward to hearing from you and you have a great day" She totally forgot we were even having a conversation on the phone!!! It was so great! Me and Sister Baxter laughed about it all week long! :) She is so super sweet.
We had a great week, We put Karen on date this week... but we are going to have to move back the date because she got sick so she will not be ready in time with all the lessons and attending church enough. It's all good though! She is willing to be baptized. I think it is amazing how much the atonement of Jesus Christ influences peoples life. That the thought that someone knows how you feel and has paid the price, it's been cool to watch her accept that.
Dinner with Sister McFarlane. (thanks sweet sister)
We have done a lot of tracting this week to find new people to teach and one night we were tracting an apartment building where we knew that one of our Referrals lived but had no clue where he lived. We just had the faith that we would be able to find him. Second to last building that we checked. Guess who we found! Fred. We found him and his family! :) Fred was a referral from Sister Esposito, he is a refugee from and is wanting to find a loving atmosphere and life. Sister Esposito took him to church with her and her family last Sunday. We knew the apartments he lived in but there are probably 6 buildings there with about 8 apartments in each building and we had no clue which building it was. We have members that live in that apartment complex and I said to Sister Baxter "Just watch, they are going to live right next to a certain family and sure enough where did they live? Right next to the them. When we knocked on the door, he was so excited to see us and let us right in. When we talked with him he just kept saying how amazed he was that our church was so loving and friendly and that, the quality is something he has been trying to find somewhere in America. He is amazing, He has a daughter who we absolutely adore! They are so sweet and kind! Their culture is so amazing, they offered us food and drink and wanted us to be completely comfortable and it is like that with any Middle East household we go into. I really felt compassion and love for this family and we got an Arabic Book of Mormon for him and his family. I know that this would really help them and their life. I can't wait to teach them.
We had Zone Training this week and it was great! There was a moment though where Sister Baxter and I had brought cookies because a member gave them to us and they had nuts. We pull out the cookies and there was this swarm of Elders trying to be our friends and getting cookies from us. I felt SOOO AWKWARD! LIKE WHAT IS THIS!!! I feel like a 12 YEAR OLD AGAIN WHEN BOYS HAD COOTIES!! haha! It was really so funny! I felt super uncomfortable and I looked up and saw Elder Edgecomb and Elder Crandall just laughing at me! Haha! Apparently I not only felt awkward but I looked awkward too!! Haha! So yes... I am already and awkward missionary! hahaha!! It was so great to go to Zone Conference though.. They really are such a source of Strength. One of my favorite things we learned is that every problem someone is facing can be traced back to a lack of one of the principles in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has really helped me be a better missionary and also help the Investigators and Less-Actives we are teaching!
This week has been great! Our Less-Actives have been progressing so much we had 2 at church this week! I truly love each one of them so much! As we have been reading Joseph Smith History with two of our less-actives they have been able to remember when they were first investigating the church and remembering when the missionaries recited this to them. We are really seeing progress! I love these people! I am going to miss Vestal so much when I leave.. Maybe not the clouds, but definitely the people! :)
Well.. I love you all!! Hope you have a great week!! :)
P.S. Me and Sister Baxter are writing a parody to "I have a Dream..." its "I knocked on a door once.." It's pretty good! It all started when Sister Fasset showed us the Hello-Adele Missionary Parody... Watch it.. its my life to a tee right now! :) hahaha!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!
Who knew I would be trying to teach in three languages.
